eLoran Time & Frequency
Due to the nature of radionavigation systems, accurate timing is key to the functioning of eLoran. Every eLoran transmitter is equipped with Caesium-based atomic frequency standards, which ensures very accurate timing.
eLoran users have always been able to derive a very accurate frequency based on the reception of Loran signals.
Using modern receivers, the derived frequency can be of Stratum-1 quality or better, making it suitable for use as a Primary Reference Clock (PRC) in telecommunication networks. This provides an independent frequency source without relying in any way on satellite-based systems such as GPS, making it an ideal complement to systems that are based on that technology. It makes Telecommunication networks more robust with the implementation of a dual solution and/or the possiblity to be fail safe against GPS diasturances and /or fall out.
With the addition of data messages to the broadcast eLoran signals, users are now not only able to derive frequency but can also derive time-of-day and pulse-per-second signals, aligned to UTC.
Reelektronika has developed technology and solutions for service providers as well as end-users for timing applications. For details, please visit the Products and Services section.
